RISK MANAGEMENT FIELD INVESTIGATION MANAGER
CLASS DEFINITION AND SUMMARY:
Under direction, the manager is responsible for management of all investigations for auto accident claims, third party liability claims, and workers compensation.
ESSENTIAL TASKS OF THE POSITION: (Illustrative, not inclusive) Conducts field investigations for traffic accidents, general liability claims, and industrial injuries.
Coordinates investigatory activities and acts as liaison to the district’s legal department, workers compensation unit, property/liability unit, transportation department and safety staff; and to outside law enforcement agencies.
Conducts investigations at the scenes of motor vehicle and personal injury accidents to obtain information (i.e., photographs, measurements, diagrams, accident reconstruction, statements,
etc.) evaluates fault, and
prepares first reports of findings.
Prepares repair/replacement appraisals of damages of motor vehicles, both district-owned and claimant, and of other property damages.
Conducts on-site follow-up investigations for student and other third-party injuries occurring in district facilities.
Conducts field investigations and provides liaison with private investigation companies and contracted third party administrators for both liability and workers compensation claims.
Prepares written documentation of all investigatory activities; enters pertinent data into the RMIS claim tracking system.
Obtains law enforcement and similar agency reports corresponding to district claims when necessary.
Researches pertinent statutes, case law, and professional publications and develops information to support claim files, working closely with claims managers and adjusters.
Attends and participates in administrative/litigation hearings or appeals when needed.
Assists with subrogation, subsequent injury fund, and excess insurance claims when additional field investigation is required.
Conforms to safety standards as prescribed.
Performs other tasks related to the position as assigned.

Knowledge of public laws and district policies, regulations, practices and procedures.
Knowledge of the Nevada Revised Statutes as they relate to the public entities.
Knowledge of case law precedents, statutory documentation research and analysis techniques.
Knowledge of drug testing protocol.
Knowledge of date base management systems.
Knowledge of insurance industry claims management standards and actions.
Knowledge of claims investigation, processing, and settlement procedures.
Ability to conduct investigations; document information and prepare accurate and concise written reports.
Ability to conduct problem analyses and make recommendations.
Ability to understand and explain laws, regulations, and procedures.
Ability to coordinate multiple projects and meet predetermined deadlines.
Ability to make presentations to individuals or large groups.
Ability to handle potentially adversarial conversations with claimants and customers.
Ability to perform complex mathematical computations and statistical analyses.
Ability to maintain security of confidential information.

REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS:
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in insurance, law enforcement, law, finance, or related field; and, At least five (5) years of field adjusting and claims management experience.
Training and/or certification on Mitchell's, Motor's, or other equivalent estimating program.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:
Valid Class C Nevada Driver’s License. Must be maintained for the duration of the assignment. Copy of driving history issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles at time of application and at time of interview prior to final selection.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Advanced degrees or certification in claim adjusting, risk management or insurance.
Completion of courses in claims, law, and loss estimating.

Valid Class C Nevada Driver’s License.
Copy of current driving history issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles.
Specific documented evidence of training and experience.
EXAMPLES OF ASSIGNED WORK AREAS:
Clark County School District Business & Finance Division and other district sites/facilities. Extensive travel to and from Clark County School District locations and other agencies.
Strength: Medium/Heavy – Exert force to 20-50 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, up to 10 lbs.

Physical Demands: Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling. Frequent reaching, handling, fingering, talking, and hearing. Vision: Frequent near and far acuity, depth perception, focal length change, color vision and peripheral vision.
Environmental Conditions: Climate controlled office setting and exposure to outdoor weather temperatures ranging from mild/moderate to extreme cold/heat. Exposure to noise levels ranging from moderate to very loud and occasional to frequent time periods.

Computers, district-issued/personal vehicles, hand held and two-way radios, video equipment, digital cameras, 35 mm cameras, tape recorders, binoculars, cellular phones, etc.
