Duties:
Answer emergency telephone & teletype calls from citizens, enters & retrieves incident data via computer, notifies other agencies & personnel of certain situation, provides callers with pre-arrival instructions via telephone.
REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge, Skills, and Responsibilities:
Some knowledge of operating an enhanced 911 system, geography of the county, ability to communicate distinctly & effectively, ability to instruct CPR procedures by telephone; ability to deal effectively with the public under stressful situations; ability to identify & implement methods of dealing with stress; ability to promptly detect the scope & magnitude of an emergency & determine appropriate assignment.

Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school including a course in typing and 1-2 years experience in E911 Telecommunications is desirable.

Special Requirements:
Must pass a typing test of 30 words per minute with no more than 4 errors;
Must be available for shift duties around the clock;
Must possess Emergency Medical Dispatcher certification within one year of employment;
Must pass polygraph examination, criminal history check and a physical examination. Required Training: Must complete Public Safety Telecommunications I Training Program;
Must complete the Emergency Medical Dispatcher Training Program;

NOTE: Incumbents unable to successfully complete the training programs during the first year of employment will be terminated.

Preferences:
1-2 years experience in E911 Telecommunications
Certified in CPR & APCO EMD Foreign language
