Project Manager Government Experience

Purpose: Our Client has 1 immediate opening for a Project Manager with Government Experience.

Standard Job Description:
Manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management. Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions. Oversees the status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Monitors the assessment of project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Insures the development of mechanism for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.

Typical Minimums:
Appropriate degrees from an accredited college or equivalent experience/combined education, with professional experience and specialized training commensurate with assignment.

Specific Job Description:
Job Duties: Formal project management, coordination and facilitation of technical and end-user teams in a mainframe application environment. Project planning, estimating, financial reporting and status reporting is also required. Proven ability to lead small and large project teams to successful completion of Information Technology Projects meeting budget, timeframe and defined scope. This position reports to the Integrated Project Team Lead within the Application Development and Technology Department in service of the Department of Defense Finance and Accounting Services Military Retired Pay Contract. In addition to leading application development and support projects, projects relating to process or continuous improvement over the application development function may also be assigned.

Required Skills:
B. S. Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
MBA or Project Management Certification is a plus.
Experienced working in Department of Defense projects or with payroll or retired pay applications is also preferred.
Experience working with CMMI supported development efforts will be considered.
Training or Certification in Six Sigma approach is also a plus.
