PlannerCity of Hutchinson, KSThe City of Hutchinson, Kansas (population 40,000) is currently recruiting for the position of Planner.Position Responsibilities:Oversees the Comprehensive Plan, Historic Preservation and Subdivisions.Will Serve as the staff member to the Hutchinson Landmarks Commission, Subdivision Committee and the Planning Commission and translates the goals, objectives and ordinances of these advisory boards into reports, programs, projects and activities.
Identifies and prepares grants for surveys, preservation plans and educational activities and evaluates and makes recommendations on proposed changes for historic sites and historic districts to ensure compliance with local, state and federal preservation regulations.
REQUIREMENTS
Position Requirements:One plus years of experience working with advisory boards, contractors, developers, citizens and city departments is required.A Bachelor's degree in Historic Preservation, Architecture, Urban Design, Urban Planning or other related field is required, and a Master’s degree is preferred.
Must possess strong negotiation, consensus building, public relation, organizational, and communication skills.Must possess a valid Kansas Driver’s License at time of employment and comply with residency requirement within one year of employment.
