BENEFITS
As a New York City Police Officer, you will receive full pay and benefits from your first day of recruit training ($25,100 per annum). Upon the completion of the Police Academy (six months), your annual salary increases to $32,700. Salaries will continue to increase every year and upon completion of 51/2 years of service, base salary will increase to $59,588. In addition to these base salaries, there is overtime earning, holiday pay, night differential, uniform allowance and benefits that include:

MILITARY BENEFITS
In Addiotn, Military Personnel qualify for the following:
With G.I. Bill Benefits. Veterans whose period of active duty was more than three years can receive $1,034.00 per month while in the Academy and $878.90 per month for the six month period following the Academy, $682.50 per month during the 2nd six months and $465.30 per month during the remaining six months
Select Reservists may also be eligible for G.I. Bill Benefits
The G.I. Bill Benefits are collected in addition to your salary
Your test scores will be kept indefinitely, while on active duty, allowing you to continue your enlistment until the end of the contract or even until retirement.
REQUIREMENTS
AFTER THE WRITTEN TEST... you must pass:

Medical examination (including a drug screening test)
Psychological examination
Physical agility examination
Background & character investigation

The day you are hired you must...
Be a United States Citizen
Be at least 21 years old
Have 60 college credits with at least a 2.0 GPA or 2 years active military experience.
Have a valid NYS drivers license without restrictions
Not have been convicted of a felony
Be a resident of New York City or the counties of Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Rockland, Orange or Putnam Counties

Take the exam and you may be able to enter the Police Academy as early as January 2007. The test is free seating is limited and on a first come, first served basis so arrive early and bring proper identification.
