Salary and Hours: $59,972 to $83,940 annually with benefits. Paid every two weeks. Forty hours per week. This position is regular, fulltime, and subject to a six-month probationary period.
Nature of Work: Assists in the development of technical and administrative computer services support and coordinates departmental use of automated systems. Provides problem analysis and support in technical areas leading to improved productivity and better integration of technology into operations. Resolve system and operational problems, and provide advice on purchase of hardware and software. Work is evaluated on the basis of records, reports, and observance of progress and results achieved. Assists in system analysis, configuration, planning and training of personnel in department automated systems. Ensures that computer and network requirements achieve optimum cost effectiveness. Develop procedure manuals and related forms to ensure smooth operations. Perform feasibility studies with technical personnel for the solution and justification of new or upgraded systems. Controls prioritizations, submissions, and implementation of requests for service to the department.
Some examples of job responsibilities will be to develop and maintain standards, documentation, procedures for database and system start-up, operation and shutdown, which could include the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, associated computer systems, Fire Department Records Systems (RMS), and Management Information Systems (MIS) in the communications center; plan/schedule database maintenance activities for patches, data refresh, database extensions, tuning, etc; analyze and monitor database and system performance and storage structures; and back-up all systems data to ensure restoration; restores data when needed. Other duties will include setting up and maintaining users access and rights on the network, all host systems; updating production files on all host systems with tested procedures; and monitoring capacity status of network systems; purges, deletes and moves files as needed. This position requires the incumbent to have the ability to be a team player and to exhibit a high level of customer service with a can-do attitude and high integrity.

REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Requirements: Five (5) current years of experience in administering and problem resolution of a multi-system hardware and application environment. Experience to include: HP UNIX hardware, EMC SAN/NAS systems, Novell Systems, Cisco Network Equipment and Microsoft Enterprise Systems
Knowledge of LAN/WAN networking, firewall, intrusion detection, Cisco Routers & Switches, windows 2000/2003/A/D, Novell NDS Structure, Tape backup systems, DNS, and DHCP.
Minimum of two years of college level course work or an Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; Bachelors preferred
Experience with Linux, Novell, and Cisco systems environment highly desirable.
Preference given to certification(s) with any one or a combination of: CCNA, CCNP, CNE, MCP or MCSE
Consideration will be given to any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
