Manufacturing Techs with Military Background
SUMMARY Performs functions associated with 300 mm wafer production operations, including crystal growing, slicing, polishing, and epitaxial wafer deposition in a team-based work environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Operates assigned wafer manufacturing equipment to meet safety, quality and output requirements set by the team. May operate multiple machines and/or production processes.
Understands and follows product specifications, SOPs/SOCs, control charts, and other documentation required in the manufacture of 300 mm. Writes equipment recipes based on product specifications.
Performs machine setup, shutdown, calibration, correlation, R&R study and routine preventative maintenance tasks on assigned manufacturing equipment depending on area needs. Collects and evaluates machine operating data to make equipment adjustments to ensure process optimization. Performs minor to moderately complex repairs on manufacturing equipment and troubleshoots equipment problems on an occasional basis.
Assists with tool installation, qualification, and trial operation data summary. Runs verification tests. Performs testing for process capability studies.
Collects and evaluates process data using SPC methods and techniques to identify and correct process issues. Designs and updates control charts, makes entries, and reviews data. Ensures data integrity and accuracy.
Understands all quality control standards and processes. Visually inspects wafers in process, recognizes defects that may lead to quality issues, and takes appropriate action to ensure quality standards are met.
Trains other employees in equipment operation and evaluates level of qualification. Mentors and advises other employees on machine operation and manufacturing processes.
Develops equipment procedures and updates as needed. Creates documentation required to support new or changed manufacturing processes and procedures.
Works with team and provides meaningful input to drive continuous improvement projects in areas such as safety, yield improvement and cost reduction.
Understands all safety regulations and works safely in all environments. Participates in team safety activities. Understands and follows clean room protocols.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Ability to operate process manufacturing equipment to meet all safety, quality and output requirements. Proficient application of data analysis techniques to gather and analyze data and make non-routine process corrections as needed. Strong analytical thinking skills and the ability to draw sound conclusions from multiple data points. Strong written and verbal communication skills as evidenced by successful preparation of technical reports and leadership of team projects. Pays close attention to detail and is committed to accuracy and a high level of quality. Demonstrated flexibility required to work successfully in a team-based work unit, including the ability to maintain productive long-term relationships with co-workers and peers. Basic computer skills using file management and spreadsheet software. Willingness to work in a clean room environment.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
The Production Technician is the highest level of Operator and works exclusively with state-of-the-art 300 mm manufacturing operations. The ability to learn to operate new equipment and follow new processes has been demonstrated at the highest level. The Production Technician is able to operate manufacturing equipment in more than one process and is capable of recognizing process improvement opportunities. Knowledge of manufacturing equipment and processes is sufficient to understand and resolve moderately complex production issues, provide preventive maintenance and make routine repairs. The Production Technician applies advanced problem solving and analytical thinking skills to troubleshoot non-routine production issues.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is indoors in a wide variety of manufacturing areas, including cleanroom environments. Depending on assignment, the Production Technician may be exposed to high noise levels and may work in proximity to a vast array of chemicals, including acids, gases, caustics, lubricants and coolants. Technicians must be willing to travel on an occasional basis, including travel to facilities in Japan for training. Technicians may be asked to work overtime shifts, occasionally at short notice. Technicians must be willing to work either day or night 12 hour shifts on a compressed work week.
