Manager, Government Relations
Business Unit: GE HealthcareFunction: LegalResponsibilities: In this role, the Manager of Government Relations for GE Healthcare will primarily be responsible for articulating and executing the public policy positions for the Healthcare business, determining goals and objectives related to policy activity stemming from CMS (Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services), the FDA, Congress and the White House and devising and implement strategies to accomplish GE Healthcare government relations agenda. This position is co-located in the legal and government relations organizations for GE, reporting through the Senior Manager for Government Relations.Key Responsibilities include:
Deep understanding of business priorities.
Partnering with the GE Healthcare business to develop policy/positions, utilizing a deep understanding of business priorities.
Developing and executing specific, multi-faceted strategies on priority issues.
Support Operations for GEHC International Government Relations team.
Support Operations for GEHC Policy Steering Committee.
Execute strategies for GEHC in conjunction with GE corporate government relations team.
Represent GEHC before The Department of Health and Human Services, CMS (Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services), FDA, the NIH (National Institutes of Health) and Congress.
Consistently participate in trade association meetings and manage trade activity on priority issues.
Review legislation and proposed rules issued by government agencies and propose GE Healthcare response.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree and minimum of 5 years work experience in government or government relations including working with Congress or federal agencies or trade associations OR minimum of 9 years progressive government relations experience including strategy and policy development with government, government agencies or trade associations.
Demonstrated experience operating in a highly regulated environment (i.e. Healthcare, Environmental, Nuclear).
Prior experience using word processing software
Strong working knowledge of English language (oral and written)
Must be willing to pass a drug test
Must be willing to submit to a background investigation, including for example, verification of your past employment, criminal history, and educational background
Must be willing to work out of an office located in Washington, DCDesired: * Bachelor's degree in political science, trade, or public policy
Previous experience working with the FDA and CMS (Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services).
Previous experience with medical industry regulations (i.e. Medicare/Medicaid anti-kickback).
Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
Demonstrated experience prioritizing conflicting demands from multiple business entities in an extremely fast paced environment.
Prior experience using presentation software
Ability to work well independently and in a team setting
