The Indirect Fire Infantryman has a key role in the Alabama Army National Guard combat force. He is a leader and an integral member of a team that employs crew and individual weapons in offensive and defensive ground combat tactical operations.

The Alabama Army National Guard is an elite group of warriors who dedicate a portion of their time to serving their nation. Guard members train part-time to be ready full-time, should their state or nation call them to serve.

Major Duties

Employs, fires, and recovers anti-personnel and anti-tank mines
Operates and maintains communications equipment and operates in a radio net
Constructs and camouflages crew weapons/mortar firing positions
Maintains mortars and fire control equipment
Performs as a member of a mortar squad providing indirect fire support
Maintains operational security

REQUIREMENTS
Must be male - this job is not open to women
High School Diploma or GED (If you do not have a diploma or GED, you may still apply - ask a recruiter about how the Army National Guard can help you earn your GED)
Between the ages of 17 and 42
Normal color vision
Correctable vision of at least 20/20 in one eye and 20/100 in the other
Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
Ability to lift very heavy objects
