FILING DEADLINE Open until filled WASTEWATER COLLECTION System Operator Salary: $2702 - $4073/mo. The City of San Luis Obispo is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated worker to perform a variety of skilled maintenance, repair and operations duties related to the CityÕs wastewater collection system. Operators perform a variety of responsible functions including mainline maintenance, underground construction, pump repair, trouble shooting, customer service, equipment operation, maintaining computerized records, emergency repairs and other related activities. Successful candidates have effective communication and team working skills and a willingness to learn and accept greater degrees of responsibility. Job incumbents will be required to obtain increasing levels of Collection System Maintenance Certification from the California Water Environment Association (CWEA) to a journey level (Grade II) of classification as defined in the City of San Luis ObispoÕs Utilities DepartmentÕs skills based pay program. Higher initial placement in the salary range is negotiable with higher levels of education and/or experience. The City provides a generous benefits package including a PERS 2.7% @ 55 retirement package, City contribution to medical, dental and vision plans; paid vacation and sick leave, tuition reimbursement, training and more. Communications Techs work a 3 day twelve- hour shift operating radio telephone systems dispatching public safety emergency vehicles and personnel; providing pre- arrival medical emergency instructions and performing a variety of clerical duties .Minimum Standards: High school diploma or GED, 2 years of typing or computer keyboard experience (minimum speed of 30 wpm net), a minimum of two years experience in dispatching for a Public Safety Agency, an 80- hour or 120- hour POST Dispatcher Certificate, CAD experience is preferred.
