Information Systems Analyst - II

NATURE OF WORK This is advanced technical and analytical work in programming and systems analysis for information systems projects. Work involves assisting in the design and development of large computer systems and their applications relevant to area of assignment. Duties include applying programming techniques and automated system solutions to enhance user organization work procedures. Work is performed under the general guidance of senior technical and professional staff, and is reviewed through consultation and evaluation of results. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS This classification is distinguished from the Information Systems Analyst I by the additional education and training required, and the greater complexity of area of assignment. ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS Analyzes, designs, tests, installs, documents and maintains computer application programs which have a moderate to high degree of complexity. Applies appropriate programming languages, report generators, application generators and high level interpreters to complete assigned tasks. Assists in the development of new automated approaches to current systems and/or procedures in assigned areas. Prepares systems specifications and technical documentation for applications. Develops reports, maintains data bases, and assists user agency personnel in utilizing automated systems applications. Works as a team member on broader or more complex projects; effectively interfaces with technical and non-technical personnel within and across agencies. Performs related work as required.

REQUIREMENTS
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS Knowledge of current principles, practices and techniques of systems analysis. Knowledge of modern design and programming principles and techniques in the following areas. (Javascript, ASP .NET, HTML, PL/SQL) Knowledge of programming language and/or operating system relevant to area of assignment. (Javascript, ASP .NET, HTML, PL/SQL) Ability to work with Crystal Reports. Knowledge of technical writing. Knowledge of information management techniques. Ability to apply technological languages, concepts and tools within established time frames. Ability to assist user personnel in the operation of computer systems and applications programs. Ability to prepare documentation, charts and graphs in relation to work assignments. Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity in full accord with the letter and spirit of Broward County's Ethics and Conflict of Interest policies. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers, elected and appointed officials and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds regardless of race, religion, age, sex, disability, political affiliation or sexual orientation. Skill in system design. Skill in the coding, testing and debugging of application programs. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in computer science or related field; two (2) years experience in systems analysis and applications programming relevant to area of assignment; or any equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.
