Government Affairs Manager

Responsibilities include:Representing Solectron Corporation to government officials on local and U.S. state, Canada and Brazil policy matters.Supporting representation of Solectron Corporation to government officials with the U.S. Congress and Executive Branch and in other international forums as needed.Working closely with Solectron leadership and internal customers, including the CEO, to identify issues that impact Solectron's operations on both domestic and international issues.Developing and implementing proactive and responsive strategies to critical policy issues -- working with internal cross-functional teams, and at the same time utilizing appropriate external resources such as trade associations, outside counsel and lobbyists to drive Solectron's policy agenda.Researching, reviewing and summarizing policy issues and legislation that impact Solectron and its customers in briefings, white papers or position papers. This includes domestic and international policy issues.Representing Solectron with trade associations and other appropriate forums to develop and to promote Solectron's policy agenda.Drafting letters and testimony for Solectron's executives.Managing government relationship-building events at Solectron facilities globally including site visits, tours and meetings with visiting legislators and other government officials.Providing regular communications on internal and external policy developments to Solectron leadership and external partners.Solectron is a fast-paced team environment with frequent tight deadlines, and requires managing multiple projects simultaneously. We are a relationship-driven organization, which requires driving results within a matrixed organization. Must be able to work with teams across various geographic locations (virtual team structures) both internally and externally. Must be able to travel to countries in which Solectron is based, and work business hours necessary to meet global deadlines.
Qualifications:Self starter with a minimum of 10 years experience in Government Affairs/Public Affairs -- preferably in the manufacturing and/or high tech arena.Excellent verbal and written communications skills and demonstrated analytical and research abilities.Self-initiating, detail oriented, well organized and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.Proven ability to work independently and as part of a highly matrixed global organization.Strong computer skills including PowerPoint and Excel.Education: Masters degree preferred -- business, international relations, government, law or communications. A Bachelor's degree required -- public policy, political science, economics, government policy preferred and/or related subjects such as international law preferred.
