FOREIGN MEDIA ANALYSIS (Multiple Positions and Openings)

Provide linguistic support to the preparation various periodic products based of the analysis of open sources media (print, radio, video, and/or internet) from foreign countries. Conduct research in support of media mapping to determine pertinent media sources in identified countries, the leanings of that media source (liberal or conservative, pro- or anti-American, etc.), target audiences for the media, etc.(a) Minimum required:
Must have at least a level 3 capability in reading and writing as described by the Interagency Language Roundtable. Must possess native or very near-native competency in Arabic or Spanish. Specifically, must have an excellent command of the grammar, constructions, and syntax of the foreign language. Must be abreast of idioms, colloquialisms, and slang and have a sophisticated understanding of the cultural, social, and political environment in which the language is used. Linguist must be bilingual to the extent that he/she can produce well-written and accurate gists, summaries, translations, and reports in American English. Must have at least three years of linguistic experience.Desired:
Fluency is Spanish and Arabic a plus. Bachelors Degree preferred. At least 3 years of experience living in at least one country within the region.RESEARCH SPECIALIST (4 Positions)Duties/Responsibilities:
Conduct research frequently in a foreign language to support the preparation various periodic products based of the analysis of open sources media (print, radio, video, and/or internet) from foreign countries. Conduct research in support of media mapping to determine pertinent media sources in identified countries, the leanings of that media source (liberal or conservative, pro- or anti-American, etc.), target audiences for the media, etc. Conduct research to determine key foreign communicators (government officials, journalists, religious leaders, etc.), their leanings and target audiences. Many of these positions will require shift work.Education and Experience Requirements:
Native fluency in Arabic or Spanish. Experience in supporting political campaigns or involvement in government communications (public affairs, speech writer, congressional staffer, etc.) is a definite plus. Assist in the preparation of various periodic products based of the analysis of open sources media (print, radio, video, and/or internet) in foreign languages from foreign countries. Conduct statistical and association analysis of events, activities, people and groups based on specified requirements and parameters. Conduct media mapping to determine pertinent media sources in identified countries, the leanings of that media source (liberal or conservative, pro- or anti-American, etc.), target audiences for the media, etc. Conduct key communicator analysis to determine the identity, leanings, and target audiences for individuals (government officials, journalists, religious leaders, etc.) who are considered significant contributors or influencers to foreign media sources.Education/Experience Requirements:
Native fluency in Arabic or Spanish. Experience in supporting political campaigns or involvement in government communications (public affairs, speech writer, congressional staffer, etc.) is a definite plus. Must have at least a Bachelors Degree and 5 years of relevant experience in academia, journalism, or strategic communications or a Masters or Doctorate Degree and 2 years of experience in academia, journalism, or strategic communications.
