New York City's 3-1-1 Citizen Service Center has revolutionized how New Yorkers contact government. Handling over 15 million calls annually, 3-1-1 has raised the bar for customer contact centers in the public sector and in private industry.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Responsibilities will include:
Working with the ETL lead to develop Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes that retrieve data from the 3-1-1 Citizen Service Call Center Application, integrate this data with information from New York City Agency legacy systems, and load the results to the 3-1-1 Citizen Service Center Data Warehouse;
Troubleshooting and tuning the performance of physical mappings;
Writing technical design documentation;
Participating in all aspects of the project life cycle, including testing;
Creating ETL execution plans.
* Due to the nature of a 24/7 Call Center Operation, candidates must be available to work various shifts, such as weekends and/or evenings. *
PREFERRED SKILLS:
The preferred candidate will have significant experience with the following:
Configuration of ETL mappings using Informatica;
Working with logical mappings to produce physical mappings;
Use of programming languages, e.g. C/C++ or Visual Basic;
Use of a scripting language, e.g. PERL; PL/SQL Scripting;
Query tuning and optimization;
Familiarity with dimensional modeling concepts.
Organization, creativity, flexibility, and strong analytical skills;
Teamwork, communication, and organization skills;
Ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines;
Ability to effectively interface with technologists, business owners, and end-users.
CIVIL SERVICE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
A Master's Degree in computer science from an accredited college and three years of progressively more responsible, full-time, satisfactory experience using mainframe, mini- or micro-computer technology in computer applications programming, systems programming, computer systems development, data telecommunications, data base administration, or planning of data processing, at least 18 months of this experience must have been in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity in the areas of computer applications programming, systems programming, computer systems development, data telecommunications, data base administration, or planning of data processing or in the supervision of staff performing these duties,

A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college and four years of experience as described above
-OR-
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of experience as described above,

Education and experience equivalent to the above. However, all candidates must have at least a high school diploma or its equivalent and must possess at least three years experience as described above, including the 18 months of administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory experience as described above.
NOTE: The following types of experience are NOT acceptable; superficial use of preprogrammed software without complex programming, design, implementation or management of the product; use of word processing packages; use of a hand held calculator; primarily the entering or updating of data in a system; the operation of data processing hardware or consoles.
