Be a Dentist in the Wisonsin Army National Guard and fulfill a higher calling in the dental field – serving the men and women of the United States military. As part of the Army National Guard’s Dental Corps, you will be part of a team that ensures that each Soldier is in optimal oral health and prepared to deploy without becoming a non-combat dental casualty. During times of war, you will aid in conserving the fighting strength of Soldiers by the restoration and preservation of oral health and function, and assist in the emergency medical management of combat and non-combat casualties. As a key member of the Wisconsin Army National Guard dental team, you will also support casualty identification through dental forensic identification operations.
The Wisconsin Army National Guard is an elite group of Citizen-Soldiers who dedicate a portion of their time to serving their nation. As an Officer in the Guard, you will train part-time to be ready full-time, should your state or nation call you to serve. The Army National Guard is based in communities in every State, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. When you join the Guard, you’ll do your monthly training close to home so you’ll be ready to serve wherever your skills are needed.
The Dental Corps is a special branch of the Army composed of commissioned officers who are graduates of dental school accredited by the American Dental Association and acceptable to The Surgeon General.
Professional Duties
Provide comprehensive oral health care to include the teaching of diagnostic/ management skills
Develop and execute treatment plans involving multiple dental specialties
Clinical and laboratory dentistry (i.e., examine, diagnose, and treat diseases, injuries and defects of teeth, jaws, oral cavity, and supporting structures)
Command and staff dental teams
Teach necessary skills and procedures to supporting team members
Assist in the emergency medical management of combat and non-combat casualties
Participate in dental forensic identification operations

REQUIREMENTS
Individuals who have completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Program (Comprehensive Dentistry) of at least 2 consecutive years in duration that is accredited by the American Dental Association and acceptable to the Surgeon General are encouraged to apply.
Must possess a DDS or DMD degree
Must possess a valid, current license from one of the fifty United States, a U.S. Territory, or the District of Columbia
Must be no older than 42 years of age (up to 50 with 10+ years of prior military service)
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
Unrestricted practice of dentistry requires individual credentialing.
