We have a great opportunity for two seasoned professionals to architect applications software systems for customer departments within the City. The ideal candidates will have exceptional customer service skills with the ability to apply technology solutions to business needs. We are seeking two individuals with strong interpersonal skills, sound decision-making skills, a self starter, and a team player.

While both positions may work on projects for any department within the City, one of the positions will have significant involvement with the enterprise document management system and the other will be heavily involved with the Community Development System. Currently the software development group designs both client and web based applications using the latest versions of Microsoft Visual Studio, IIS and Microsoft SQL Server. The city’s mature Geographic Information System is based on ESRI ArcGIS and Autodesk MapGuide.

RESPONSIBILITIES
*Works with customer departments to understand their automation needs, prepares technical specifications, and recommends options to stakeholders.
*Develops software systems including creation of user interface design, database design and programming.
*Develops reports and the report modules including creation of advanced queries for ad hoc reports used in conjunction of larger software developed applications.
*Supports users by troubleshooting system problems, installation configuration development, installation, documentation and training.
*Researches, tests, and recommends modifications of new releases of enterprise software before installation on all City computers.

REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS
*Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experience.
*Three to five years recent experience in system analysis or design, development, testing and implementing software applications. Five years in the Information Technology field is required.
*Recent experience with open systems procedures, safeguards and security protocols, data flow, and record maintenance.
*Recent experience with SQL Server, Visual Basic, C# or similar programming languages in developing both client and web based applications.
*An excellent working knowledge of PCs running Windows XP, and extensive working knowledge with entire Microsoft Office Suite.
*Strong communication and customer service skills; must have experience working with users providing technology solutions and support.
*Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, exercise good judgment in prioritizing work assignments, and be flexible and focused on accomplishment.
