This is technical administrative work supervising employees and providing oversight of the Coastal Wetlands Permitting Bureau. The work involves responsibility for analyzing administrative problems, and requires the exercise of a high degree of independent judgement in the interpretation, application, and enforcement of statues, rules, regulations, ordinances, and policies. Other essential functions include maintaining liaison with state and federal agencies and political subdivisions; recommending policies and procedures and regulations; providing oversight of the Bureau’s budget; and, providing technical assistance to employees.
REQUIREMENTS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:The ideal candidate should havea working knowledge of coastal and estuarine ecosystems of the Gulf of Mexico,
coastal resource management techniques, the fauna and flora of the Gulf of Mexico, and ecological principles.Applicants need to possess excellent verbal and written communication skills;be able to appropriately interact with a wide variety of people;possess skill in executing multiple projects simultaneously;have excellent negotiation, computer, and presentation skills; and,have the ability to exercise considerable independent judgement and discretion.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:A Master’s degree and 7 years of special experience as defined in the special qualifications,3 years of which must have been in line or functional administrative or advanced supervision; OR,A Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of special experience as defined in the special qualifications, 3 years of which must have been in line or functional administrative or advanced supervision
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:The required experience must have been in an administrative, professional capacity in the area of coastal wetlands permitting, environmental engineering, or a directly related area.
