Senior Manufacturing/Industrial Engineer (Cost Engineer)

A Cost Engineer will provide the organization with the cost impact of any new product design decision, as well as, any design proposal or change made to existing product. The individual brings a wealth of design and manufacturing process knowledge to be able to influence the design of a product based on the cost analysis of the design concept. The individual will support the basis of developing the cost objectives and financial viability for new products as well as coordinating the development of product cost data with the various financial functions in the organization. The individual will be a resource for cost information for the entire organization (upper management, marketing, sales, engineering, financial, manufacturing, etc).

Duties:
Provide the basis for developing the cost objective (Target Cost) for new product proposals and changes of existing products.
Develop and maintain cost reports that provide the required data to management.
Participates in cost reduction programs as directed.
Provide Engineering/Manufacturing with Project/Product cost data as requested.
Collaborates with designers and manufacturers to achieve desired cost objectives.
Perform cost analysis to identify potential cost reductions and recommend changes.
Co-ordinate pending product costs with the Product Costing function to assure accurate costs of future products or components.
Respond to cost inquiries by all levels in the organization and insure the proper interpretation of the cost data.

Skills Required:
The individual must possess a working knowledge of the products produced as well as design and manufacturing processes.
Detailed knowledge of Cost Accounting concepts and techniques are required as well as a fundamental understanding of basic financial management techniques.
A working knowledge of a Bill of Material, it's development and application.
Knowledge of basic estimating procedures with a discrete area of expertise and a skill set enabling the learning of Design For Assembly/Design For Manufacturing process and techniques.
Able to read and understand blue prints and other Engineering documentation.
The individual must have good written and verbal skills necessary to communicate effectively with all levels of management.
Interpersonal skills necessary to deal with others effectively, build consensus and to sell ideas and concepts to all levels in the organization.
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to understand and master detail and present summary principles in recommendations to senior management.
Good problem solving capability
Ability to independently analyze risk, make recommendations to the appropriate authority and when solicited make decisions.
The individual must be self-motivated and capable of working in a team or individual non-supervised environment.
Driven to get it right the first time and on time.
REQUIREMENTS
A Bachelor's degree or equivalent with an emphasis in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering is desired.
Fifteen or more years experience in Design Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering
Experience working in a 'Team' oriented environment or possibly a self directed work team.
