Purchasing Assistant/Equipment Manager

Coordinates activities involved with procuring goods such as, equipment, tools, and supplies for a full service industrial fabriaction plant. Reviews requisitions and confers with vendors to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule. Selects products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items. Estimates values according to knowledge of market price. Determines method of procurement, such as direct purchase or bid. Prepares purchase orders or bid requests. Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority. Maintains manual or computerized procurement records, such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories. Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.


Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time and cost estimates for equipment to be used on projects.
Reviewing data to determine material and equipment requirements and prepares itemized lists.
Computing cost factors and prepares estimates used for management purposes, such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors, and determining cost effectiveness.
Conducting special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or effect cost reductions.
Consulting with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.

Estimating, procurement or purchasing heavy equipment to be used in industrial facilities and commercial construction
Proven organizational skills
Client contact experience

Education
High school and/or job related experience, college degree a plus
