Job Description:
Position Purpose:

An Industrial Engineer is responsible for:

Supporting Logistics Management through the development and execution of a business plan;

Functioning as a liaison between the Distribution Center(s) and the Customer Support Center;

Providing services in the following areas:
1) Operational benchmarking and analysis;
2) Process improvement;
3) Facility planning;
4) Activity Based Costing;
5) Operating/Capital planning, analysis and reconciliation.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities:

Process Improvement and Benchmarking:


Review and analyze processes and performance of distribution center operations, including work force, facility layout and operational data to determine efficient utilization of associates and equipment.

Support recommendations and assumptions through industry benchmarks.

Analyze and design value added process and procedure improvements for warehouse management.

Develop engineered standards geared toward improving productivity and efficiency.

Development of ABC/ABM process costing analyses and modeling to assist in identifying efficiencies and inefficiencies with respect to the current distribution operation processes and proposed initiatives.

Facility Planning and Capacity Planning:


Provide capacity planning analysis and design to assist management in determining the capacity and utilization of each distribution center.

This includes the analysis of current operating capacities, the forecast of future impacts, and the development of various alternatives of future distribution center designs based on inventory and process trends.

Plan facility, equipment, materials and personnel utilization to improve efficiency of operations. Includes facility operational layout, as well as specific storage and production and operation systems and applications.

Operating and Capital Planning, Analysis and Reconciliation:


Perform cost analysis, financial planning and job evaluation in conjunction with recommended process or procedural improvements.

Perform ROI analyses and needs assessment regarding selection, purchase, and installation of material handling equipment.

Project Management:


Implement strategic initiatives, tactical plans and process improvement recommendations.

This Includes the acquisition and coordination of necessary resources to meet project goals.

Minimum Qualifications:


Must be eighteen years of age or older.

Must pass the Drug Test.

Must pass the Background Check.

Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable.

Education Required:

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the position.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 3 – 5

Physical Job Requirements:


Most time is spent sitting in a comfortable position with opportunity to move about.

On occasion there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Preferred Qualifications:


The preferred minimum educational background of the successful applicant is a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering or Operations Management.

3 – 5 years of directly related experience is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:


The ability to interact professionally and effectively through verbal and written communication with employees and company contacts.

Efficiently and effectively analyze systems, data, processes and related information and document complex functions.

Work independently, with little direct supervision.

Organize, prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks within established time frames.

Understanding of supply chain management with emphasis on distribution.

Systems understanding to include relational databases and data extraction tools, MS Office suite (emphasis on Excel/Access) and CAD/CAM desktop software.
