VMS Systems Administrator

Scarborough Research, the nation's premier provider of local-market consumer research, is seeking a highly motivated and self-directed professional for a VMS Systems Administrator position in our South Florida location.

Description:

We have an immediate opening for a VMS Systems Administrator to support our Coral Springs, FL location as well as five remote office locations. Ideal candidate will support Scarborough Research's current and future systems/applications, provide end user support, install create systems/application documentation, and other VMS Systems Administrator duties.

Responsibilities:

• Work under the direction of the IS Director to support end users with VMS and other related software/hardware issues.
• Work with programmers to maintain current and future custom applications.
• Assist the Desktop Support personnel as needed.
• Maintain and create documentation on current Scarborough systems.
• Evaluate, Analyze, and recommend new products and technologies for implementation.
• Configure/install/troubleshoot VMS and equipment hardware/software.
• Perform backups, restores, and special archives as needed.
• Overall support of the IS department and end users.
• Infrequent, limited travel required.

REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate should have:

• Experience in DEC/HP/Compaq Open VMS Administration.
• Experience installing, configuring, and administering HP OpenVMS 6.2.x or higher.
• Experience performing upgrades on Open VMS clusters and servers.
• Working knowledge of DNS, TCPIP, SMTP, DECNET, LAT and other network-related functions in a LAN/WAN environment.
• Experience with HP Pathworks and ABS backup software.
• Knowledge of system security monitoring and auditing.
• Experience in system performance monitoring and tuning.
• Experience working on a project team in a large, data processing/production environment.

Additional skills desired:

• Knowledge of PC’s and the Windows environment.
• Familiar with Microsoft and other common, off-the-shelf PC software.
• Be willing to accept new challenges and training for expanded roles in the Microsoft Windows and Cisco networking environment
