Sr Oracle PL/SQL Developer

SUMMARY

The Senior Oracle PL/SQL Developer/Tuning Specialist who would primarily be involved in PL/SQL development along with maintaining/tuning existing PL/SQL procedures/triggers within the Oracle 9x & 10x environment. Development tools include PL/SQL, TOAD, DBArtisan. This position handles complex programming assignments, and requires strong communication and proven technical skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including the following (other duties may be assigned).

Ø Involved in day to day development writing complex Stored Procedures/Triggers.

Ø Optimize and tune stored procedures, embedded SQL, taking advantage of Oracle specific features

Ø Create tuning guidelines and procedures for the field, train support and field personnel in their use

Ø Assist the support team with diagnosis & tuning of customers’ production performance problems

Ø Mentor application developers on design of high performance, highly scalable data design and persistence layer interactions

Ø Specify, design & implement load tests and performance diagnostic tools

Ø Ongoing analysis, design, re-factoring and tuning of the OLTP schema

Ø Design & implement strategies for data integrity, data cleansing

Ø Drive requirements and design of the data mart schema dimensional and fact tables; meta data models for reporting; and historical data compression


REQUIREMENTS


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/COMPETENCY/SKILLS

Ø 5+ years experience with Oracle PL/SQL in an 8i/9i/10x Environment

Ø 3+ years experience in the analysis, design, development, deployment & tuning of large scale distributed, transactional commercial database applications

Ø 3+ years experience in the design and development of commercial data warehousing and business intelligence applications

Ø Expert knowledge of SQL a must. Ability to write complex SQL required.

Ø 3+ years Query analysis and tuning experience (hints, explain plan, TKPROF).

Ø Expert knowledge of Oracle PL/SQL best practices and development methodologies or standards - Stored Procedures, Packages, Triggers, Debugging, Tuning

Ø Data modeling Experience a plus

Ø Data Warehousing experience a plus

Ø Excellent analytical, interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills

Ø Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions;

Ø Effective presentation, organizational and planning skills;

Ø Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment;

Ø B.S. Computer Science or equivalent; M.S preferred

Ø Experience with working on large databases over 200GB.

Ø Experience with partitioning and other advanced Oracle features

Ø Conversant with the use of TKPROF, STATSPACK and other Oracle tuning tools.

Ø Oracle certification preferred

Must be US Citizen or permanent US Resident
