Senior Technical Business Analyst
Purpose: A start up company located in Pleasanton, CA is looking for a Senior Technical Business Analyst. This company simplifies financial products into retail able consumer products (i.e. Payment Cards). They have technically integrated a worldwide network of top retailers for instant issue and sale of these financial products. They are unique products in easy to use formats that drive incremental sales, attract new consumer and enhance top brands. This start up is unique in that they possess the characteristics of a product innovator and a major retailer. It is in the combination of innovation that is able to simplify financial products so they can be effectively sold to consumers in a retail environment. They have exclusive partnerships with top financial companies and major retailers that cannot be duplicated. They implement and operate products through a linked network of over 42,000 retail stores including grocery, drug, convenience, and mass market formats. This retail network is projected to reach 60,000 stores by the end of 2006 in the US and Canada and reaches over 150 million shoppers per month. The network will also expand to Europe in 2006. Their products are simplified today onto card based technologies as that is what consumers demand while they continue to develop new financial products delivered in simplified consumer demanded forms. Products currently include the gift card mall with retail gift cards, general purpose gift cards (MC, Amex and Visa), ticket and sports cards, healthcare spending account cards, telecommunications cards and phones, prepayment reload able debit cards and alternative payment cards. All products transact easily for a simple and fast financial solution.
Job Description:
Sr. Technical Business Analyst:
-Responsible for analyzing, developing and documenting customer business requirements and translating those requirements into IT solutions to solve business issues and/or needs.
-The Business Analyst provides technical assistance to the Project Manager and Technical Lead in the development of Business Cases to support customer requirements.
-The components of these responsibilities include the creation of business requirements documents, white papers, concept documents, use cases and presentation materials.
-The Business Analyst frequently meets with Customer business owners, project sponsors and technical staff to obtain information regarding the objectives of the customers as they relate to projects and the resolution of issues.
-Business Analysts work closely with Project Management supporting the development of the project vision and project execution.
-Business Analysts are the key interface between the customer and the
Project Team for the requirement phase of a project; and continues to act as the liaison for all other phases of the project, ensuring that project deliverables meet the customer requirements and expectations.
-He/she also acts as the functional expert representing the company's products with Customers, helps manage scope, and drives implementation decisions that follow the company's best practices.
Duration of Assignment: 6 months with the option to hire

Technical skills essential for this assignment:
-Strong presentation and facilitation skills, proficient in Power point, Visio, Word, and Excel.
-Ability to develop Use Cases
-General understanding of database modeling/design concepts and object oriented Design/Analysis strongly preferred.
-Grocery, Retail, and/or payment processing industry experience highly desirable, but not required.

-Inquisitive and proactive contributor with good listening and observational skills willing to wear multiple hats, if necessary.
-Must have strong quantitative and analytical skills.
-Modeling skills, to represent requirements information in graphical forms that augment textual
-representations in natural language, including using modeling languages already established in the development organization
An understanding of contemporary requirements elicitation, analysis, specification, verification, and management practices and the ability to apply them in practice; familiarity with requirements engineering books and resources

They has approximately 150 employees. The company is a subsidiary of Safeway. The company is financed by Safeway; however, it operates as separate. Currently, the company is in hyper-growth mode. The company has been profitable for 2 years; however, it is still in "start-up" mode.
