Purchasing Manager

KHS USA, a global leader of packaging machinery, has a career opportunity for an experienced procurement professional. The Purchasing Manager directs the procurement function of the KHS USA Sarasota production facility from intent to purchase through delivery. This includes procurement of highly specialized parts used in complex electro mechanical packaging machinery with electronic and motion controls.

The Purchasing manager has the following responsibilities:

Manage a team of expert technical buyers who evaluate parts, choose suppliers and negotiate prices

Collaborate with Engineering, Quality and Production to specify design and delivery of customer products

Collaborate with other KHS global facilities to maximize KHS profitability by implementing low-cost global sourcing. Analyze market and delivery conditions to determine present and future availability of needed materials

Manage supply contracts for legal correctness, price, and acceptability of items to specifications

Negotiate or supervise the negotiation of complex requests for equipment, supplies, and services from suppliers and subcontractors

Manage procurement by researching sales records and inventory to meet company requirements

Recruit, maintain and track quality and cost effectiveness of suppliers while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct. Evaluate suppliers on multiple criteria (for example, price, quality, service support, availability, reliability and selection)

Attend trade shows, conferences and supplier facilities to assess vendors’ production and distribution capabilities.

Foster use of information technology to track orders and maintain appropriate inventory levels
REQUIREMENTS
Required Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully an individual should have:

Mastery of procurement principles and techniques; ability to implement optimal procurement system for current and future manufacturing requirements; demonstrated ability to understand technical aspects of materials and parts involved in the manufacturing process

Proficiency with MS Office applications and Enterprise Resource Planning systems. Ability to master the KHS USA ERP within a reasonable period of time

Excellent interpersonal and demonstrated leadership skills
