Underwriter

Receive daily loans for underwriting that have been assigned by the Underwriting Manager. Underwriters will underwrite or “take action” on a minimum (if volume is present) of 120 loans monthly. They must also have strong organizational skills in order to handle more that the minimum standards (120 loans) and be responsible to meet deadlines when heavy periods of volume exist throughout the month. This would include some extended hours, weekends and/or time worked from home. DHI Underwriters are responsible for underwriting all delegated investor and agency products including Conventional, Alt A, Bond, FHA and VA and must be proficient with all guidelines. Programs include both manual loans and validation of automated findings. All decisions are to be communicated to DHI Teammates with the highest level of customer service. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Prefer a minimum 2+ years Underwriting Experience with FHA Direct endorsement and VA Automated/LAPP approval.

Computer capability, excellent communication both verbally and written.
