Sr. Tax Accountant

Our client a 2+ Billion dollar publicly traded company is in need of a Sr. Tax Accountant to join their Corporate Tax Department which is located in Chicago, Illinois, but will be relocating within the next 2 to 3 years to Houston. Job Responsibilities: This role will be focused on Domestic and International tax compliance requirements for the Company. •Review data collected from subsidiaries with complex transactions and prepare several Form 1120 pro-forma’s including tax return schedules, statements and attachments; •On a project by project basis involvement with international group and assist in the calculation of 1118 – Foreign Tax Credit, 5471s and etc. •Active involvement in the quarterly and year-end analysis of the domestic provision; SOX; FASB 109. •Develop relationship with various tax, business and accounting personnel throughout the company to gather and analyze data needed for tax compliance; •Obtain a thorough understanding of key internal financial reporting and tax compliance software capabilities and reporting functions. •Organize research for new projects, and based on the research develops procedures/workpapers/ templates to implement new law, document position taken on the tax return. •Develops long term solutions to today’s increasing requirements from IRS and state authorities, e.g. works with systems/reporting personnel to jointly develop more useful reports from FRS/Fixed Asset System/ SAP to improve efficiency of Tax Department during the tax return preparation.
REQUIREMENTS
Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Accounting and 4-5 years of federal/state tax experience at a large corporation or at a public accounting firm. Candidates are required to demonstrate excellent written, communication and organizational skills and demonstrate the following skill set: •Work independently and harmoniously with a group; •Prioritize workload and re-prioritize when necessary; •Take direction, implement changes and follow up as needed; •Manage multiple projects simultaneously; •Comply with deadlines; •Proficiency with Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel, Word); •Knowledge of FASB 109 income taxes a plus; •Strong analytical and tax technical skills; •CPA (Certified Public Accountant) preferred; •Working knowledge of Insource, RIA checkpoint and CCH – research tools, FRS reporting, SAP is a plus.
