Sr. Financial Analyst (Benefits Accounting)

The Benefits Accounting Department of Kaiser Aluminum has an opening for a Sr. Financial Analyst. The position is full time, responsible for evaluating and analyzing benefit program financials in accordance with company procedures and policies.

Responsibilities include:
* Responsible for evaluating employee eligibility (medical, dental & vision) for hourly and salaried Benefit Plans to include per employee fee invoices;
* Responsible for monthly closing entries in the general ledger related to 401K & Vacation accruals; hourly & salary medical accruals, allocation of medical claim accruals.
* Responsible for maintaining and evaluating claims data.
* Prepare, evaluate the monthly check run for Pension Funding; verify related financial statements for accuracy and verify quarterly fee invoices based on contract rates and reconciliation of checks issued.
* Responsible for the Supplemental Unemployment Benefits Trust accounting, including preparing the payments, verifying the financial statements for accuracy, reconciling the bank statement and PLAN accounting statements each month for correctness.
REQUIREMENTS
Requirements:

* Degree required in accounting field, Finance, Human Resources, or equivalent work experience to acquire the skills of a four year degree.
* Must be a Financial Analyst with HR/Benefit work experience of 5 – 7 years of progressive responsibility in audit or accounting, claims analysis, preferably in benefits or insurance environment.

Prerequisites:

* Advanced knowledge of Excel
* Knowledge of Oracle (general ledger/payables)
* Understand the month end process (from journal entries to accruals)
* Communications with Third Party Administrators
* Experience with claims reporting and reserve accounting concerning third party claims.
* Experience with rate setting for employee benefits and Cobra.
