Large San Diego subsidiary of multi-billion dollar public company is looking for an Accounting Manger to cover a medical leave for a few months.JOB DESCRIPTION
General Accounting ManagerSUMMARY
Responsible for financial accounting, accounts payable, and payroll activities along with the supervision of supporting personnel for the San Diego Finance and Accounting Department.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:BA in accounting, finance, or related field.EXPERIENCE: 7+ years of general accounting experience (accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets).
2+ years of financial accounting and supervisory experience.KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
"Practical knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
"Strong PC skills including Excel, Word, and other Microsoft applications.
"Experience with ASK ManMan or similar manufacturing/accounting application.
"Effective oral and written communication skills.
"Strong interpersonal skills.INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS
INTERNAL: Continuous interaction with San Diego Finance staff for both routine and nonroutine activities; interaction with finance personnel at the foreign locations as it relates to fixed asset transfers, contact point for all San Diego personnel for accounts payable, payroll, and ManMan issues.EXTERNAL: Interaction with parent company accounting and treasury staff for both routine and non-routine inquiries, internal audits, and intercompany. Work with outside auditors including Big 4, State Tax authorities, and Workman's Compensation. Maintain strong relationship with payroll processing company.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Managing multiple and competing priorities, meeting firm financial reporting deadlines, effectively communicating with all level's of personnel.SPECIFIC POSITION DUTIES
"Prepare monthly financial reports. Meet the time requirements for all financial reporting."Coordinate the monthly accounting close process and prepare closing journal entries."Review and maintain monthly account reconciliations and journal entries for the department."Maintain balance sheet accounts in the general ledger."Maintain worldwide chart of accounts in ManMan."Perform analysis on monthly actual financial performance and provide explanations for actual-to-budget variances."Supervise Accounts Payable department, resolve discrepancies, and review weekly check run. Ensure that Accounts Payable activities are within the policies and procedures of the Company."Supervise Payroll department and serve as backup for payroll administrator. Maintain up to date knowledge of payroll systems and processing procedures."Support other areas of San Diego Finance: 10K preparation, internal and external audits, property taxes, sales taxes, workman's compensation, 1099 preparation."Maintain SOX documentation and ensure compliance to policies and procedures."Make recommendations for system and process improvements for all areas of responsibility to ensure departments are operating efficiently."Staff and train to meet department's objectives within the budget approved."Ensure professional development of staff by jointly setting performance objectives with each employee, offering constructive performance feedback, and ensuring that their responsibilities and objectives are defined, written, and understood.Qualified candidates please send information to:Ryan Buell
