Under minimal supervision, performs Data Center (24x7) operations and maintenance; performs preventive, predictive, repair and general maintenance activities in a critical data center environment. Operates and maintains critical systems, such as HVAC, uninterruptable power supplies (UPS), generators, batteries, switchgear, life safety and building management systems and utility systems. Lead and trains other personnel. Must be available as needed on various shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime.



1. Must be able to respond to emergency and urgent situations, equipment and system failures with competent analyzes critical thinking skill.

2. Operate and maintain site critical mechanical and electrical systems and equipment that supply the facility with heat, utility and conditioned power, ventilation, air conditioning and other environmental and critical systems in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operating manuals and manufacturers' specifications.

3. Monitor building; operate and maintain the facility Building Management Systems (BMS).

4. Perform maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems and equipment to include such items as chillers, generators, of fire and life safety system.

5. Disable and rearm fire alarm panels when required.

6. Inspect and adjust electrical and mechanical equipment and systems; perform specific preventive maintenance service, as well as general maintenance functions.

7. Make periodic inspections of all mechanical and electrical systems and equipment and monitoring equipment operations, and maintain equipment-operating logs.

8. Proficiently use test equipment and devices pertinent to building operating systems and analyze test results.

9. Record and report all faults, deficiencies, and other unusual occurrences. Respond to emergency situations and perform any and all tasks necessary for the protection of occupants and property.

10. Must be a team player committed to working in a quality environment.

11. Perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as requested.

REQUIREMENTS


High School education, with strong electrical background; BOMA certification preferred. Five years experience in maintenance of facilities with thorough understanding of electrical systems, (including UPS, battery strings and automatic transfer switches) controls chiller, generator, and life/safety systems, including three years related experience in data center or critical environment. Ability to work and communicate with all tenant and facility management personnel. Ability to organize and prioritize workload with minimal supervision. Requires work in confined spaces and on ladders and lift equipment over six feet above ground. Lifting and physical exertion required. Must confirm to all city, state and federal license and certification requirements. EPA Universal certification desired. May be required to work shifts, holidays or weekends. Must be fluent in written and spoken English.
