Journey Machinist

A Machine shop here in the Vancouver area who specialize in the production of steel pumps is looking for Journey Machinist. Qualified Candidates would be under limited supervision, perform very complex set-ups on all lathes, mills, grind equipment, drill presses, as well as perform and operate with in the capacity of the machine to produce parts and items to dimension and tolerance. Other essential job function include, performing typical machining operations such as turning, facing, boring, grooving, trepanning, grinding and milling. Interpret detail drawings, shop drawing, and sketches and determine appropriate set-up and sequence of operations. Plans and set-up machining operations and controls to produce components using appropriate speeds, feeds, and depth cuts. Selects, mounts, and aligns cutting tools, tooling, machine attachments and materials to assure operation within prescribed limits.
This position is at least 2 months long and will more than likely go longer depending on performance.
REQUIREMENTS
Ability to read, write and follow verbal written instructions. Capable of preforming all shop math including algebra and simple trigonometric calculation. Must read and interpret complex blueprints and engineering sketches. Ability to effectively operate all shop equipment.
