Grounds Irrigation Technician Job Description
POSITION PURPOSE:
To accurately and safely maintain all aspects of the golf course irrigation system in order to provide superior playing conditions at the DuPont Country Club.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is responsible for maintaining the entire irrigation department including, but not limited to, irrigation repairs, record keeping of water usage, purchasing irrigation parts, determining water needs, and completing in-house projects for the three golf courses and the grounds of the DuPont Country Club and Brantwyn. The successful candidate must be able to independently coordinate and perform multiple responsibilities and assignments, prioritizing tasks in order to meet the needs of the business.
Other responsibilities include:
Managing, maintaining, operating, and repairing the two pump stations and pump houses
Conducting daily irrigation system observation, repair, programming and scheduling
Maintaining and purchasing parts inventory.
Initiating and completing small projects as needed
REQUIREMENTS
KNOW HOW/EXPERIENCE:
Experienced candidates will have:
Knowledge of plumbing tools, equipment, and supplies used in irrigation systems
Minimum five years irrigation installation experience
Experience with Toro and Hunter Genesis computer systems preferred
Experience with Syncroflow and Flowtronics pump station systems preferred
Large equipment knowledge, e.g. backhoe operation
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong communication skills, both oral and written
Strong organization and attention-to-detail skills
Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. (50 lbs. maximum)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Work Schedule: Monday -Friday; every other weekend during the April through November
Hours: 8 Hours a day; overtime on a voluntary basis and in business need
May lead a small crew for project work as needed
Bending, Twisting, Walking, and exposure to all outdoor weather elements are an essential part of this job.
