Gear Technician/Engineer

Major Purpose of Job: To print, reverse engineer, and collect information on gearing.


Major Responsibilities and Measurable Results of Job:

1.Safety – responsible for safety of self and co-workers around work areas, maintain housekeeping of work areas, maintain equipment and other company assets assigned to me (employees and equipment), and promote a safe work environment at all times.

Measurable Results – LTA’s and medical reportables, pre-job assessments, observations, corrective actions solved, adequacy of housekeeping in work areas, and damage to company assets.

__50__% of time
2.Responsibility – Design new gears, reverse engineer existing gears, check gear drawings.

Measurable Results – Gear designs and approved gear drawings.

__40__% of time
3.Responsibility – Failure analysis of gears and other components.

Measurable Results – Written reports and analyses of findings for failures.
REQUIREMENTS
Formal Requirements/Certifications of Job
B.S. in Engineering - preferred
5 years experience in heavy industrial gearing
UTS software - preferred
Metallurgical background – preferred
Technical writing skills
Excellent communication skills
Must be self-driven
Proficient with word processing and spreadsheets
