Appleton is headquartered in Appleton, Wisconsin, and has manufacturing operations in Wisconsin, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and the United Kingdom, employs approximately 3,400 people, and is 100 percent employee-owned.Expected results: Provide leadership for safety, personnel and production issues on shift to both the Thermal and Carbonless Value Streams. Create an engaging work environment, characterized by mutual trust and respect, open and honest communications, teamwork and accountability.
Supporting Activities: Daily contact and communication (verbal and written) with hourly employees, cell managers and value stream managers. Drive for results by developing a strong working relationship with the on shift leader mentors through communication, coaching, trust and accountability. Initiate “leading” on-shift safety efforts and manage the “trailing” incident investigation process. Ensure compliance by employees with all safety and personnel policies. Serves as incident command during emergency and disaster response. Drives the movement toward self directed work teams through the utilization of workforce redesign coordinating roles within the daily operation. Assists workforce redesign with controlling costs through waste management and personnel utilization. Works closely with the shift maintenance personnel and crews to maximize equipment uptime and efficiency. Maintain the highest quality product standards with a good understanding of the PI system. Maintain a working knowledge of the labor agreement and the employee work rules to implement and support their policies and practices. Documents non-conformances and follow up with cell managers. Develop and complete annual objectives in the primary areas of safety, people, cost, quality and service. Provide a written monthly update on the status of these projects. Problem solving and troubleshooting both equipment and people issues is crucial with clear communication on the cause and corrective action necessary. Exhibits initiative to resolve these issues on shift will be required.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in science, chemistry or engineering strongly preferred. 3-5 years of manufacturing experience and a basic knowledge of lean manufacturing methodology. Leadership skills, computer skills, written/verbal communication skills and problem solving. The willingness to learn, strong initiative, ability to lead with minimal direction from own manager, good communication with all levels in the organization, maturity and skills to handle personnel issues effectively.All offers of employment are contingent on a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
