Equipment TechnicianSummary Description: Conducts, maintains, tests and repairs all equipment of all Whataburger facilities to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operating systems to maintain the established Five Points of Focus standards while performing the daily field service requirements. Applies technical knowledge of mechanical principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to proper operation. Ensures that work orders and all related documents are properly closed according to departmental goals, JDE guidelines and customer service agreement. Provides technical support to Equipment Technician Team and other facilities disciplines when requested.Equipment Technician RESPONSIBILITIES: (Identify the major functions/tasks performed in the job.)•Troubleshoots, repairs and maintains all Whataburger equipment, including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), cooking and beverage equipment and refrigerators.
•Performs minor plumbing and electrical repairs. Contacts outside vendors for major renovations or repairs.•Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with Company safety procedures. Informs appropriate management of potential electrical/mechanical problems and inherent dangers involved.
•Works with the Zone Lead Technician/Zone Manager to ensure all service requests are successfully executed and work orders & related documents are properly closed according to set departmental goals, JDE guidelines and customer service agreement.
•Protects and promotes the Whataburger Brand.
•Maintains a constant sense of urgency (24/7) to support the operations of the Whataburger business and to keep the facilities up to the Five Points of Focus standards.
•Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical theories and principles, writing specifications, food production systems and local and national electrical codes.
•Works with Regional Facilities & Operations Management to ensure compliance with TAS, EPA, NFPA, OSHA, and NEC requirements.•Advises Family Members of operation procedures and requirements for working safely with restaurant equipment and components.
•Maintains Company required performance and maintenance records for equipment.
•Performs preventative maintenance functions, as directed.
•Documents work completed, inventories items, purchases and time worked on related documents.
•Assumes additional responsibilities, as assigned.
•Educates Family Members of operation procedures and requirements for working safely with electrical/electronic and mechanical equipment and components.

•Responsible for the overall maintenance of Whataburger’s equipment for assigned region(s).•Conducts general and preventive maintenance on equipment, as directed/needed. Directs and manages designated Business Unit of Whataburger facilities including equipment, tools, inventories, service calls, parts, supplies etc.
•Ensures safe, efficient and reliable operating systems in Whataburger restaurants.
•Keeps Lead Technician/Zone Manager apprised of any outstanding issues concerning the Company’s equipment.
REQUIREMENTS
REQUIREMENTS: (Describe the typical minimum requirements to perform the job.)Education (Indicate the minimum formal education the job requires.)
•High school diploma or equivalent.
•College hours in technical-related courses preferred.Experience (Indicate the minimum experience the job requires.)
•Minimum five (5) years field experience in the HVAC and restaurant equipment repair field.
•Minimum two (2) years work experience in commercial kitchen equipment repair preferred.
•Strong refrigeration & HVAC knowledge / skills.
•Good working knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
•Good organizational skills, ability to handled multiple projects and tasks simultaneously and meet critical deadlines. •Ability and desire to learn new equipment.
•Demonstrated safety consciousness.
•Proven ability to work with all levels within the organization.
•Excellent oral and written communication skills.
•Proven ability as a team player with strong work ethic.
•Valid driver’s license, liability insurance, clear driving record and drug screen, and a clear background check required.Professional Certification (Indicate any professional certifications or industry standards required.)
