Building Engineers - Washington DC Metro Area

We have several opportunities for experienced Building Engineers in our Mid-Atlantic Region. These positions are located at our properties in the Washington DC Metro area that includes Maryland and Virginia.

Primary responsibilities include:
Maintenance and repair of:
(1) HVAC equipment, heat pumps, VAV boxes and rooftop package units.
(2) plumbing, which may include water closets, faucets, and water heaters.
(3) electrical equipment, which may include light switches, receptacles, ballasts.
(4) architectural hardware.

Housekeeping related to mechanical equipment and areas.

Response to work orders initiated by tenants and property managers and on call emergencies and problems after hours and on weekends.

Documentation of work done to equipment and monitoring of preventative maintenance and outside contractors.
REQUIREMENTS
High School diploma or GED required. Vocational training desirable. Universal CFC Certification may be required.
HVAC experience and certification(s) preferred, with experience emphasis on commercial-office facilities equipment. Journeyman HVAC License in one of three (3) jurisdictions (MD, VA or DC) may be required.
Superior ability to interact and communicate with professional courtesy and tact among tenants, contractors and individuals at all levels of our organization.
Experience working with hand and power tools as well as knowledge of pneumatics, electrical, and plumbing. Some advanced skills may be required.
Ability to: (1) climb ladders and lift up to 75 lbs. (2) operate wireless pager (training provided) used to respond to work orders. (3) apply attention to detail in all work performed. (4) work independently and at times work in a team environment. (5) read equipment operation instructions and schematics.
Security clearance may be required for some facilities.
Must have valid driver’s license, current insurance, good driving history.
