Vice President, Human Resources
Program: Operations
Reports To: COOThe Vice President for Human Resources is responsible for establishing the strategic direction for human resources and leads the development and implementation of an HR structure and set of programs in support of CI's vision, mission and values. He/she will monitor progress over time in order to maintain alliance of HR programs with CI strategy and goals; will build a strong HR team that can work within the context of a global, decentralized organization with a geographically dispersed staff; and will work across programmatic and geographic lines to provide CI with effective HR programs, practices, policies and systems. The VP will work closely with senior management and other staff to instill an organizational commitment to CI's values; to comply with HR-related laws and regulations; to attract, develop and retain the best human talent, including the development of future leaders; and to capture and share the organization’s intellectual capital. He/she serves as a senior level advisor on HR issues.Responsibilities:1. Leadership - responsible for developing and implementing HR strategy and deliverables. Develop HR policy, programs, and systems that ensure quality service and support in critical HR areas, including employment, compensation, benefits, performance management, employee relations, staff training and organizational development Assess competitiveness, appropriateness and effectiveness of HR programs; evaluate and develop CI's human resources function, capacity and performance. 2. Advisory - serve as an advisor to senior management in HR matters with a focus on leadership development and organizational structure. 3. Management - provide leadership and oversight to HR functions, programs and activities; foster an environment of teamwork, high performance, efficiency and accountability among HR staff. 4. Partnerships/Capacity Building - establish strategic and functional partnerships to promote cross functional learning, collaboration, information sharing, and best practices. Establish HR credibility and strategic engagement with leaders and staff throughout CI to ensure effective and quality HR service and support. Build the institutional HR management infrastructure to identify and address capacity or skill gaps. 5. CI champion - evaluate and maintain CI’s ethical and cultural cohesion through assessments and engagement with all levels of staff. Serves as organizational ombudsman for the Whistleblower Policy and as champion for the Nature of CI. Foster a workplace environment consistent with the values and mission of CI. 6. Compliance - work with managers and staff to ensure compliance in HR related matters. Work closely with leadership and the General Counsel's Office to identify and mitigate areas of high risk. Maintain current knowledge of US and international employment law. 7. Special Projects - As needed, work with leadership or the Board to identify key areas for change or improvement. Lead or participate in HR, Operations, and/or cross-functional, organizational projects as needed to support change initiatives.Qualifications:EDUCATION: Masters degree in Human Resources, Management, or a related fieldREQUIRED SKILLS & CAPABILITIES: Recognized leader in the field of Human Resources. Ten or more years of HR leadership and manaement experience, preferably in a non profit setting. Strong understanding and experince regarding HR management worldwide.YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 10Conservation International Values:
