Manager of M&A Accounting

Vaco Resources is a leading providor of senior level accounting and finance professionals for interim and project needs here in San Diego. We are currently looking for a tenured accounting professional that can assist our client with various M&A related activities.Consultant should have experience in the following areas:
Purchase accounting associated with business acquisitions, divestiture accounting associated with business disposals, and a light level of due diligence work associated with acquisitions. Coordinating with M&A group on acquisition projects, monitoring status, and assist with financial statement disclosure. He she will also be responsible for the annual and ongoing goodwill and intangible asset impairment testing, private and equity method investment impairment testing, providing accounting and disclosure support on major transactions as they occur (i.e. IPO, new FASBs, etc), and providing technical accounting support to business units.Consultant should have 8+ years accounting or auditing background with strong analytical, technical and communication skills (written and oral) is required. Must have previous experience working for a public accounting firm. Knowledge of mergers and acquisitions accounting and/or due diligence activities is also required. Must have strong research skills and current knowledge of GAAP and SEC reporting and disclosure requirements. Individual must be able to effectively research, interpret and present appropriate accounting treatment for acquisition and divestiture issues. In addition, individual must have strong business skills and an ability to understand new topics and issues quickly. Strong computer skills and a thorough knowledge of Microsoft products, specifically Excel, PowerPoint and Word is required.
