Company
In 1981, a group of Christian churches in Milford, CT, founded the Combined Parishes Action Committee (CPAC) to address a growing community need to serve the homeless and hungry. Incorporated as a nonprofit in 1985, CPAC opened a soup kitchen in a local Episcopal church and then in 1986 founded the Beth-El shelter for homeless men, women and families. In 1992, the shelter and soup kitchen moved into its current location on New Haven Avenue. Beth-El Center is the sole provider of shelter and soup kitchen programs for the materially poor in Milford; in collaboration with other community organizations, we are currently developing the first supportive housing project in our community.
Through the compassionate presence and work of staff, volunteers and Center residents, CPAC’s mission is to provide: shelter and refuge for homeless individuals and families with children; food for the hungry at its soup kitchen and food pantry; opportunities for empowerment and self-sufficiency for the needy and those in crisis; and education and advocacy within the community about issues related to poverty, hunger and homelessness. Our services are guided by our Christian values.
CPAC seeks an experienced, dedicated nonprofit generalist to lead all strategic and operational activities in partnership with its board and staff.
