EXECUTIVE DIRECTORFounded in 1983, Aid For AIDS is a non-profit providing critical assistance to impoverished households with HIV/AIDS in Los Angeles County. One of the oldest AIDS organizations in the U.S., it has assisted over 15,000 men, women, and children with support exceeding $18,000,000. Over 90% of revenue goes to client programs. Goals are to prevent homelessness and hunger, provide stability in crisis, and encourage independent living through financial assistance for housing, utilities, medications, and nutritional supplements, and home delivery of fresh food. For this leadership position, Aid For AIDS seeks a motivated individual with a related professional background and a commitment to public interest and policy to guide the development of this important organization, and to ensure its place in the forefront of HIV/AIDS assistance and delivery models. Supervisor: President and the Board of DirectorsOverview: The Executive Director of Aid For AIDS is the Chief Executive Officer of the agency whose primary responsibilities are to administer, direct and coordinate all activities of Aid For AIDS and to effectively carry out the mission of the agency and the objectives of the Board of Directors. The Executive Director (ED) is hired by the Board of Directors and reports to the President of the Board.
Primary Responsibilities
• Financial. The Executive Director shares with the Board of Directors the responsibility of the current and future financial soundness of the agency. As such, the ED has a primary responsibility to ensure that appropriate fundraising activities are implemented and that proper financial maintenance of the organization is implemented.
• Community and Public Relations. The ED represents and advocates for the agency by communicating with strategic partners, governmental agencies, elected officials, donors, supporters of the agency and the general public.
• Board Relations. The ED is the primary conduit between the Board, Staff and general public. S/he implements the Board policy and joins with the Board in the preparation of the organization’s long-range policies and objectives. Further, the ED attends Board and Committee meetings and assists in the preparation of agendas, issues and programs. Additionally, the ED is expected to play a significant role in the development of the Board.
• Administration. It is the ED’s responsibility to oversee the day-to-day operation of the agency services and activities. This includes the administration and delivery of client assistance programs, which are primary to the mission of the agency, as well as authorization, approval and implementation of expenditures in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Maintaining quality performance within a team-oriented environment is essential, as well as a thorough understanding of the financial and functional workings of a nonprofit organization.
• The incumbent must be committed to the agency’s mission and is expected to represent the agency to clients, community and stakeholders.• Direct work experience in the HIV/AIDS related community is highly desirable and will be given preference.• Proven successful performance in fundraising is required.• Must possess demonstrated ability to work well on a team.
• A college degree is required; Masters level is preferred.
