Chief Systems Engineer

Systems Technology Forum is a veteran owned small business currently supporting the Office of the Secretary of Defense and DISA on the Teleport program and the Navy and Military Sealift Command on various system engineering, test and evaluation and logistics support projects. STF employs 60 personnel and maintains offices in San Diego, California, Arlington, Virginia, Chesapeake, Virginia, Fredericksburg, Virginia and Charleston, South Carolina. Chief Systems Engineer
The successful candidate will serve as the lead technical expert for architecture, design and implementation responsible for all aspects of the Military Sealift Command enterprise IT environment. This role is a key position, providing technical leadership and vision for the Government and contract team.

Key responsibilities include:
Lead technical direction and discussion on IT projects with broad range and scope, both ashore and afloat.
Ensure solutions meet technical and business goals of the MSC.
Technical innovation to solve challenging enterprise communications and IT issues.
Understand of DOD, Navy, COCOM, and NETWARCOM C4I and IT initiatives, programs and goals and apply these to MSC IT engineering projects.
Work daily with project managers and customer POCs to ensure IT projects are integrated across the enterprise and maintain schedule.
Evaluate impacts of requirements changes and issues that may arise.
Understand 24x7 ashore and afloat operational requirements and experience in a process oriented working environment.
Research and architect new computing and networking technologies and recommend applicable technologies to management as they reach maturity and applicability to the enterprise environment.
Confer with management on open issues, potential problems, priorities and resources that effect the timely completion of projects or effect project objectives.
REQUIREMENTS
Master’s (MS) degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or other equivalent engineering discipline or Bachelor’s (BS) degree and 20 years’ experience.
Five years of experience as a network or systems engineer in a heterogeneous systems environment with demonstrated experience of a similar scope and nature with the following types of projects:
oTC/IP based Networks.
oCISCO Routers/Switches.
oNetwork Firewalls (both Software and appliance).
oStorage Area Networks (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS).
oLarge Scale Oracle Applications and other associated DBMS.
oData Migration and Replication.
oScalable Systems Architectures.
oNetwork Centric Enterprise Services.
oMicrosoft Exchange.
oNet Centric Enterprise Services.
oVeritas Backup and Recovery.
oImplementation of Information Assurance (IA) Requirements.
oDeployment of Complex Applications.
oDeployment of Network Infrastructures.
oMilitary and Commercial Satellite Wideband Communications.
oDoD Messaging Systems (DMS) and E-mail Services.
Experience in Structured Engineering Processes preferred.
Previous experience as a principal engineer in a multi-project environment is helpful.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Flexibility to work with people at every level and with solution-oriented, goal-oriented approach to accomplish the assigned tasks.
Customer support experience and a strong customer-service orientation.
Strong presentation skills and ability to lead large group discussions and working meetings.
Cisco, Windows, Unix, and/or CISSP certifications strong plus.

Candidate must have Secret Clearance with Top Secret capabilities.
