The JTRS Cluster 5 program is the largest and most complex of all of the JTRS Clusters that will incorporate Software-Defined Radio (SDR) technology into small form factors. The Cluster 5 program will require advanced technology and process in order to meet JTRS requirements within size, weight, power, and cost constraint platforms. Candidate must be able to provide leadership in trade studies for all technologies associated with small subscriber-like communications devices. Candidate must provide leadership in multi-company and customer Integrated Product Teams (IPT) and provide oversight for systems engineering team in the definition, decomposition, and allocation of requirements. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Candidate must be able to engage customers, at all levels of technical expertise, with dialogue and presentation materials representative of General Dynamics' technical position and/or recommendations.Applies advanced principles of engineering and management to solve problems involving the development of complex technologyOversees and or manages design and development processes as they relate to the engineering of products utilizing principles and technology of physics, mathematics, engineering and related physical sciences.Utilizes computer technology to optimize all phases of workMay conduct researchOwns and solves customer problems and technical problems beyond domain of expertiseCompany recognized professional authority in the domain of expertise and Technical visionaryInfluences strategic technical directionAdvocates and facilitates the mentoring processHas achieved results as a mentor of less experienced and identified most effective performing engineersDirects development of technical strategies and teaming strategies across divisions Leads large proposals and company-wide business pursuitsChampion of change initiatives

Candidate is expected to be well versed in state-of-the-art technologies and components for communications systems. A thorough understanding and experience with product development processes and methodologies is mandatory. Senior engineer with 15+ years experience in systems engineering with background in communcations/telecommuncations development environment. Candidate should have experience in different areas of a communications system with a good understanding of layers 1 through 4 definitions and related component technologies for implementation. Ability to clearly and concisely articulate status, risks, mitigations, issues, and technical strategies to executive level management is a must. Candidate responsible for participating in the strategic roadmaps for technologies and products. Responsibilities include some travel, in support of program, to teammates' and customers' facilities. Masters of science in a related engineering field, or higher, or comparable experience highly desired. (MSEE/MSCSE or higher)
Must be able to travel 20% of the time. Applicant must be capable of obtaining a US Security Clearance.
