Salary: $14.30 in 2006. 2007 pay TBD.
Hours: 8 or 12 hour shifts based on unit placement in FebruaryJob Details:
Temporary summer nursing internship for 10 weeks..Provides nursing care for patients and families under the direct supervision of an RN in the acute hospital or clinic setting. Observes and reports the patient responses to care. Responsible for following the Comprehensive Nursing Care Plan, including nursing diagnosis and standard collaborative practice to perform delegated patient care within the shift.Education/Learning Experience:
Required: Nursing student who has completed the Acute Care clinical experience and/or has completed Junior status in a BSN program or has completed Adult Process and two semesters of an ADN program. Must be graduating from nursing program in December 2007 or May of 2008 to apply.
Desired: Completion of Pharmacology course.Work Experience:
Required: CNA certified or Junior Nursing Student or having completed two semesters of A.D.N. program.
Desired: Previous experience in a health care environment.Skills/Knowledge:
Required: Working to develop values, knowledge, skill in areas of self-awareness, patient-family care, caring relationships and attentive communication. Core nursing skills as defined in the unit intern skills roster. Patient advocacy.
Desired: Teamwork, Delegation, Flexibility, Adaptability, Conflict Management, Organization and Time Management.Licenses/Certifications:
Required: CPR certification within the last 24 months.
Desired: Certified Nursing Assistant.Physical Requirements/Demands of the Position
Position involves extensive standing, walking, reaching. Frequent sitting, grasping, manipulation of equipment and utilization of fine finger movements. Occasional kneeling, crouching, squatting, twisting, climbing. Frequent patient positioning, involves patient transfers with use of slippery boards and transfer belts. Specific physical requirements may differ based on patient care unit. Involves understanding written and oral instruction, reading and understanding written material (e.g. medical record), basic math skills. Ability to conceptualize, think abstractly, communicate ideas. Frequently involves setting priorities, planning, continued learning, coordinating, organization, decision making, judgment, problem solving, teaching, integrating, synthesizing, delegating, implementing, goal setting, evaluation.
