TELESCOPE SYSTEMS Apache Point Observatory seeking entry to mid-level Telescope Systems Engineer; Responsibilities: performance, maintenance, upgrading electro-opto-mechanical systems for 3.5-meter telescope. Salary competitive/ commensurate with qualifications. Min. req: BA/ Mechanical Engineering plus applicable experience. Demonstrate creativity, current knowledge (including design, implementation, maintenance and testing) to include: mechanical design (SolidWorks CAD, FEAs), precision mechanical systems, optical coatings, cryogenic and vacuum systems, machining, thermal measurement /controls, systems-level trouble-shooting and problem analysis. Must be able to work at heights, lift 35 lbs, climb ladders.
