Structural Plan Review, Construction Codes, Engineer

Strong Phoenix Engineering firm looking for a code enforcer, building inspector, or Engineer to examine plans to insure compliance with City and National Construction Codes.


Verifies size of project with the stated figures Determines valuation and fees Reviews for Code Compliance.


Prepares plan review letters listing necessary corrections to be made meet as necessary with owner, architect, etc.


Performs re-checks as necessary Approves plans and makes appropriate entry into log book May be asked to assist other plan reviewers as necessaryJob Requirements


Knowledge of building materials, design concepts, national and city codes.


Must have the ability to read and accurately interpret plans and specifications.


Ability to use graphic instructions such as blueprints, schematic drawings, plans or other visual aids is necessary.


Ability to produce written documents in the English language with clearly organized thoughts and using proper sentence construction, punctuation and grammar.


Ability to perform simple engineering computations using mathematical methods such as multiplication, division, algebra and basic trigonometry and calculus.


Knowledge and ability to use a computer efficiently is required.


Must be familiar with and be able to use basic computer programs.


Experience as a plans examiner for a city, town or county Building Safety Department preferred.


The structural plans examiner is expected to have a minimum of five to ten years of structural engineering design and/or plan review directly related to the UBC or IBC.


Must be able to review plans, calculations and geo-tech.


Reports and appropriate details to obtain code compliance.


College level courses or Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering or related field and five years of experience in plan review, building inspection and/or code enforcement or engineering design.


PE Registration is desirable.
