SCP/AIN Engineer
Job Title: SCP/AIN Engineer Job Description:Responsible for Deltacom’s SCP/AIN architecture used for providing service to Deltacom customers. This includes Systems Engineering, Network Design, Project Engineering, Equipment budgeting, procurement, and SCP configuration. Oversee defined engineering process to develop new network services, elements, equipment features, and services or products. Tasks 1)Act as engineering contact for equipment vendors. Assist with RFI and contract negotiations. Perform cost studies, evaluation, and selection. 2)Provide input and direction for all aspects of software development such as requirements refinement, software design, implementation, testing, problem analysis and resolution of the SCP and AIN application. 3)Maintain, track and report performance measurements for the SCP and AIN hardware and software components. This will include spares and revisions of all equipment and software. Act upon parameters that are outside the established thresholds. 4)Assist Sr-Manager annual capital budget revisions. 5)Maintain documentation for SCP and AIN application and software. 6)Follow defined engineering process to develop new network elements, features, or products. Coordinate feasibility studies, lab trials, field trials with Sr- Manager and other departments. Ensure all key departments are consulted and allowed to define requirements. Turn Product Development requirements into RFI and subsequent network design. The design shall include all items specified in department’s engineering process document. 7)Act as SCP and AIN subject matter expert to the rest of the company. Keep current on underlying technology as well as new vendor specific equipment and features. Publish annual report on state our SCP and AIN Technology, describing Deltacom Network and Enhancements need to keep network abreast of industry. Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in electrical or computer engineering from an accredited four-year college or university with a background in telecommunications using AIN protocols and technologinse. 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experiences. Language Skills Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures and memos. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from vendors and internal Deltacom Teams. Mathematical Skills Ability to work mathematical concept of statistics. Also the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages. Ability to apply concepts such as fraction, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
