Specific Description
Lockheed Martin at the Air Force Research Laboratory in Mesa, AZ is currently looking for a computational cognitive scientist or cognitive/functional linguist to help build a Natural Language Processing (NLP) system. This system is to be implemented in the ACT-R cognitive architecture, which is written in Lisp. The end goal is to build computational replicates of human-like behavior for various types of training applications. These synthetic entities are not gaming systems based on black-box AI techniques, but rather entities that have high psychological plausibility. Preferred candidates will have interdisciplinary experience in Linguistics, Psychology, Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science. Ideally, this person will have experience designing and implementing all or some of the subsystems of a NLP system. This position is in the Performance and Learning Models research group at the AFRL. It is an applied research position working directly with the government customer as well as other cognitive/computer scientists, cognitive/functional linguists, and psycholinguists. The select candidate will help develop NLP subsystems in ACT-R (Lisp) and integrate them with other system components written in varied programming languages.

REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 5 years of professional experience; or 3 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree. Considered career, or journey, level.
