Radio Systems Engineer

BS degree in electrical engineering 8 years of demonstrated results, or equivalent experience. Advanced degree (MSEE) desired.
Provide technical support for the US Coast Guard's (USCG) Rescue21 program. Support the integration of all Land Mobile Radio products both on the ground and aboard USCG vessels. Troubleshoot and implement actions involving LMR. Aid in the proposal of upgrades on the LMR portion of the Rescue21 system. Activities in this position include development and maintenance of system architectures and concepts, trade studies of potential upgrades to the systems and development and presentation of reviews to customers and project management.
Support proposal development, system architecture, trade studies, initial system design, subcontractor selection process, design/development, validation/verification for future Rescue21 like systems or large Public Safety or DOD radio systems. Must be able to express ideas and concepts in written and verbal forms to different levels of audiences.
Must have a thorough understanding of Land Mobile Radio Communication Systems with direct experience in RF systems/architectures, link margin budgets and analysis, system trade studies and voice and data networks. Working knowledge of both Analog and Digital channels and channel encryption methodologies a plus.
Previous product development experience with both Conventional and Trunked Land Mobile Radio systems. Direct experience with Public Safety systems a plus. In-depth understanding of APCO-25 a must and working knowledge of the P25 Common Air Interface a plus. Working knowledge of any LMR trunking protocols such as P25, LTR MPT1327. Familiarity of voting and simulcast concepts as well as asset tracking desired.
Other preferred skills/experience include: LAN/WAN data networking, wireless networks (microwave, 802.11), and VoIP.
