PSM Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES:

*Responsible for overall leadership and compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM), Risk Management Program (RMP), and other process safety policies.
*Provide coaching and leadership for area PSM coordinators with heavy interaction with site maintenance teams.
*Lead oversight and auditing of the management of change process including HAZOPS, FMEA's and MOC's.
*Strategic assessment and development of risk management process to improve proactive status of the site.
*Provide strategic direction and technical support for the implementation of critical PSM compliance projects across the site.
*Provide strategic leadership for PSM compliance audits.
*Provide leadership for the implementation of programs that improve process safety.
*Developing guidelines to set control limits for critical operating parameters.
*Collaborating with operations during the design of advanced process control Systems.
*Selecting the correct mechanical integrity level for safety critical devices institutionalizing the management of change process across the plant site.
*Provide strategic leadership for the upgrades of current PSM programs, which include process development, incident investigations and employee education.
*Primary responsibility is for process safety implementation for the chemical units
REQUIREMENTS
Job Description / QUALIFICATIONS:

*B.S. in Chemical Engineering
*Minimum 5 years process engineering / operations experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) knowledge and/or experience and chemical operations experience.
*Strong process, quantitative and analytical skills with experience in statistical application.
*Experience with hazard reviews and risk assessment techniques.
*Demonstrated ability to understand regulatory and EHS policies.
*Strong communication skills with all levels of the organization and outside regulatory agencies.
*Team leadership and consensus building skills.
*Demonstrated ability to organize and motivate teams, drive change and interact cross functionally. *Proven track record of executing programs.

DESIRED:

*Experience in the chemical industry with Process Safety Management (PSM) and Process Hazards Operability Analysis (PHOA) background.
*Demonstrated ability to lead and succeed in a matrix organization.
*Knowledge and experience using Six Sigma tools and methods.
*Master's Degree a plus.
