Maintenance Manager Cement Plant - Demopolis, AL

Primary Function:
To direct and manage the maintenance plans, programs, and activities for all of the plant's equipment, according to established policies and procedures, in order to assure optimal operation time while maintaining cost.
Duties:
1) Planning, implementation, and follow-up for production maintenance.
2) Review and approve maintenance plans for production equipment and plant facilities; to assure such plans are completed. To devise and oversee action plans to address necessary jobs, current workload, and backlog.
3) To establish criteria for job performance, according to plant management guidelines.
4) To establish, together with appriopriate input, maintenance strategies for scheduled shutdowns and major repairs, and to oversee their execution.
5) To address immediate actions in case of unexpected failures and emergency repairs, efficiently coordinating resources and assuring timely results.
6) To hire, direct, and guide the maintenance employees; evaluating their performance in relation to timely results, cost and quality.
7) To analyze, evaluate, and authorize modifications to equipment, in order to reach optimal operating conditions and to reduce costs and energy consumption.
8) To coordinate and direct necessary meetings in order to analyze and to evaluate problems and to adopt the most adequate solutions.
9) To support plant management in results meetings.
10) Revision and approval of maintenance standard procedures as necessary.
11) To maintain relationships and conduct meetings with other functional areas (Technical Services, Human Resources, etc.), in order to improve maintenance administration.
12) To prepare monthly reports for plant management using statistics, graphics, indexes, etc, with respect to materials and labor as well as specific information about equipment behavior (performance, controls, records, costs, etc.)
13) To participate with plant management and all other functional areas to analyze problems, evaluate results, and to adopt common strategies.
14) Ensure inventory of parts, equipment, and materials are at an optimal level.
15) Working with requisition system and work orders to authorize purchases of materials, the utilization of outside contractors, requests to hire external personnel, outsourcing repairs of equipment, changes of employment categories for personnel, etc.
16) To assure availability of manuals, catalogs, instructions and specialized technical literature of plant equipment and to keep it updated.
17) To encourage and to promote development of multiple skills in work teams, facilitating their participation in courses, seminars and any other training event.
18) To oversee and assure that all employees follow established safety rules and regulations.
19) To address labor-related and administrative matters for maintenance area, to promote that relationships with employees (union and non-union) remain in a climate of harmony and mutual respect.
20) To keep close contact and coordination with technical management in order to establish common criteria in projects or studies about replacement, installations or modification of equipment.
21) To act in coordination with maintenance groups in other plants to exchange equipment, materials, spare parts and ideas or experiences.
22) To promote and to encourage among employees a working environment focused on productivity, mutual support and collaboration.
REQUIREMENTS
Technical Skills
Knowledge in:
· Cement manufacturing technology and equipment.
· Preventative/predictive maintenance programs.
· Root cause failure analysis and other analytical techniques to optimize equipment uptime.
· Comprehensive understanding of engineering principles and practices.
Related Industry/Job Experience:
· Minimum of seven years continuous operations experience.
· Previous engineering/maintenance manager experience.
Educational Requirements: BS in Engineering, Electrical or Mechanical preferred.
