Fiber Splicer

The purpose of this position is to maintain the transportation and distribution portions of the cable television system.
REQUIREMENTS
(Basic Requirements)High school or equivalent is required. Electronics or cable TV experience desired.

(Minimum Requirements)Working knowledge of OTDR, fusion splicer, precision cleaver, signal level, mechanical aptitude, volt-ohm meters, amplifiers, power supplies, DVM, VOM, signal leakage, detection equipment, and various other troubleshooting devices is desired. Working knowledge of city and map reading, two-way radio, first aid, and CPR is desired. Ability to solve and repair technical problems with customers and technicians through effective verbal communication. Ability to splice fiber optic cables mechanically and with fusion machine.Company vehicle (with valid AL driver’s license and a good driving record for the past 5 years). Lifting and carrying up to 75 pounds including ladders (6', 28', and 32'), digging, crawling, stooping, and standing. Climbing on ladders, telephone poles, and/or towers. Works outside throughout the year. Works in various weather conditions which may be extreme hot and cold conditions. May drive for long periods of time.
